Created by Oslo-based artist Tom Arild Junge, AN INVITATION - The Music Version - An Oratorio is a 12-track work that places philosophical reflection at the centre of a musical experience. Released under the Nikiré project, the album explores honesty, compassion, dignity, forgiveness, humility and love, presenting these values as principles to practise in everyday life rather than abstract ideas to admire. Its purpose is thoughtful and personal: encouraging listeners to examine their relationships, choices and responsibilities towards one another.
The background to Nikiré gives this project particular emotional weight. Junge began developing it during a period of profound reflection following the loss of his son, Erik. That experience gradually opened into a wider examination of human connection, personal values, and the meaning of how we live. The resulting philosophy is not presented as a universal doctrine or a demand that listeners adopt a particular belief. Instead, it offers space for individual consideration, allowing people to engage with its ideas through their own experiences.
The oratorio translates this written philosophy into twelve musical chapters, with lyrics written by Junge and structured around his original philosophical text. Ambient and cinematic soundscapes provide the setting for its contemplative approach, giving the words room to carry the central message. The album's value rests in the relationship between its musical presentation and its underlying ideas: listening becomes another way of encountering the philosophy, beyond reading the original reflections.
Nikiré also makes its creative process transparent. Junge developed the philosophy, lyrics, concepts, structure, and artistic direction himself, while Suno was used as a production tool for composition, arrangement, and vocal performance.
