It's Doctor Turns an Everyday Mishap Into Alternative Rock Character on “Rash Vest”

London and Brighton alternative rock trio It's Doctor brings an unusually ordinary incident into the spotlight with “Rash Vest,” a single released through Danger Records. Inspired by the true story of a lost rash vest and the painful sunburn that followed, the track takes a small personal misfortune and gives it a place in the band's characteristically offbeat songwriting world. It is an amusing premise, but one that also reflects a creative instinct to find stories in experiences other songwriters might overlook.

The trio consists of Welsh singer-songwriter and bassist Doctor G, guitarist Doctor P and drummer Doctor M. Having recorded together in various line-ups for more than a decade, the musicians have developed an identity built around melodic indie and alternative rock, with room for darker lyrical subjects and unexpected humour. Their influences include Weezer, Pixies and Talking Heads, reference points that suggest an interest in memorable melodies, unconventional ideas and arrangements that do not always follow predictable paths.

What makes “Rash Vest” an interesting release is its choice of subject. Alternative rock frequently draws on heartbreak, frustration and personal conflict, but everyday accidents can reveal just as much about the strange details of human experience. Losing an item of clothing and suffering the consequences may sound insignificant, yet the story offers an opportunity to turn embarrassment and inconvenience into something listeners can recognise and enjoy. The humour also gives the band room to approach songwriting without taking every subject too seriously.

The single arrives shortly after It's Doctor's fifth album, Darkness In Me, released on 16 September 2026. That record was recorded at Berry Sound Studios in Walthamstow, produced by Sean Berry, and mixed and mastered by Natalie Bibby. Its darker title provides an interesting contrast with the lighter, more absurd inspiration behind the new single, demonstrating the range of subjects the trio explores.

With further live appearances scheduled in London, including The Phoenix on 13 November and The Fiddler's Elbow on 4 December, It's Doctor continues building momentum. “Rash Vest” reinforces their willingness to find musical inspiration in life's unexpected moments, turning a forgotten piece of clothing into an unmistakably distinctive song concept.
