Olivia Reid's "Space to Roam" EP: A Folk-Inspired Journey Toward Rest and Clarity

With her new EP, Space to Roam, Olivia Reid gives us one of her most honest and grounding projects to date. Written during her two-month artist residency in Poland's countryside, the six-song EP reflects upon the idea of simplicity, nature, and emotional honesty. Although Reid is frequently praised for combining complex electronic sounds and indie songwriting, this project is closer to folk, where acoustic warmth and organic soundscapes lead the way.

The EP opens with "Space to Roam," a song that embodies the energy of the EP in its raw yearning for simplicity and the freedoms of a fast-paced, overwhelming world. Next is "Love Don't Leave," a sweet song about connection and intimacy, where the campfire-esque ambiance allows a listener to immediately feel and enter Reid's world. The following song, "All in Time," observes, with calm, the seasons of nature and our own individual lives ebb, flow, and progress naturally.

The closing songs "Serene" and "Steady" deepen Reid's artistry, with "Serene" providing a personification of the sun in a melodic testament to light, and "Steady," produced with So Wylie, experimenting with the confluence of folk and electronically liberated sounds. Collectively, Reid demonstrates her gift for synthesizing often indefinable sensations into music that rings true.

Through Space to Roam, Olivia Reid draws listeners into a softer, slower, and more thoughtful way of being, a more personal backdrop for reflection and regeneration.
