Kelsie Kimberlin's "Dream of Peace" Conveys an Important Message Through Music and Film
Kelsie Kimberlin, a Washington D.C.-born artist with important humanitarian connections to Ukraine, releases a new single and video, called "Dream of Peace", in honor of the International Day of Peace 2025. The film and song showcase Kimberlin's artistic brilliance, as well as the urgency behind her desire to bring peace through music.
Shot in Kyiv, Ukraine, amidst tremendous danger, the video encapsulated Kimberlin's dedication to promoting Ukrainian voices. Directed by Denys Akulov and produced by ToBe Productions, Kimberlin is depicted as embarking on an emotional journey through a post-apocalyptic landscape, only to encounter a lone astronaut - the human spirit searching for hope in the darkest of times. In the film, the scenery shifts from post-apocalyptic imagery to serene, fertile landscapes and sunflower fields (the national flower of Ukraine). Because in the end, Kimberlin becomes the messenger and message herself: peace is possible, but it takes courage, bravery, and a united front.
“Dream of Peace” exemplifies the craft of emotional architecture. The work begins gently with orchestral colorings and ethereal choral textures, slowly building toward a cinematic anthem. Produced by Yuriy Shapeta in collaboration with Colombian producer Pedro Vengoechea, the recording features an impressive international pedigree of collaborators. The mixing and mastering by Liam Nolan (Adele) and Stuart Hawkes (Amy Winehouse) allow for emotional nuance while articulating every vocal phrase and instrumental sound with clarity. Kimberlin’s voice is vulnerable, yet commanding, and bears the thematic influence of the song without sacrificing intimacy in the delivery.
Outside of the music, “Dream of Peace” serves as a cultural statement. Kimberlin, whose humanitarian work has already been recognized with the United Nations Humanitarian Award and the Mount St. George's Royal Medal of Honor for her support of Ukraine, is using her art for social advocacy instead of promotion/profit. In connection with the International Peace Concert and the debut of the video in Los Angeles, Kimberlin is purposely situating her artistic expression into the larger context of global resilience, justice, and hope.
"Dream of Peace" is not just a song; it is a musical, cinematic, and humanitarian statement. Kimberlin's art and activism feel genuine, important, and powerful. For listeners who are searching for music that is beautiful and purposeful, Kelsie Kimberlin's new release is worth listening to and worth remembering.
