Blues Corner Delivers Raw Emotion and Social Reflection with “Piggy Bank Blues”

The Parisian duo, Blues Corner, makes a confident entrance into the world with their new single “Piggy Bank Blues.” This gritty banger delivers raw, gritty, and soulful aural experiences connecting to both the heart and the times. After many years as friends, Phil Roman and Seb Oroval created Blues Corner out of their mutual dedication to the blues and their intention of breathing new life into it for the present-day listeners. With this single, they do just that as they explore a long history of the blues while making it urgent and relevant for today.

“Piggy Bank Blues” is an introduction to Blues Corner, one of their most anticipated double albums due in 2025, which examines the genres of Chicago Blues and Country Rock. This single is heavily influenced by the energy of Chicago Blues with the hypnotic grooves and sharp, stinging guitar riffs that are irresistibly rhythmic and tempt you to clap and dance along.  But while the music is infectious and irresistible upon first listen, what will draw listeners into the music time and time again are the lyrics. While the musical experience is memorable, it is the song's theme that speaks to us all universally through financial pressures and sacrifices made daily to get by, a lyric that is just as meaningful in Paris as it is anywhere.

The track, which was produced by Bruno Dandrimont and recorded at La Battamobile studio, features a stellar supporting cast of musicians including legendary French bluesman Fred Chapellier, guitarist Marco Cinelli, slide guitar virtuoso Sonny Landreth, and musician Stéphane Filey, all of whom add to the stellar cast of musicians solid production, giving the recording an authentic and polished sound which honors the roots of the blues while making it more accessible to new audiences.

But what’s special about “Piggy Bank Blues” is its honesty. Phil Roman’s industry honed precision blended with Seb Oroval’s raw, self-trained fire results in a performance that feels lived-in rather than staged. Every note feels authentic, the kind of authenticity that makes you feel engaged in the song because you feel the context of the song around it.

As the first single from their upcoming album, “Piggy Bank Blues” is not just a good song; it foreshadows an ambitious and emotional album. Blues Corner is not about preserving the blues; they are about transforming it into a way that new generations have the ability to experience it while still being based and grounded in the heritage.

Featuring a spellbinding groove, incisive observations on modern society, and an undeniable energy from live performance, “Piggy Bank Blues” demonstrates that the blues is not just alive in Paris; it is flourishing, redefined, and ready to be delivered to the world.
