IN ALL MY NIGHTMARES I AM ALONE by Post Death Soundtrack: A Masterclass in Cathartic Chaos Album
IN ALL MY NIGHTMARES I AM ALONE is Post Death Soundtrack’s fifth full-length release, which is both an immense and brutally honest project. Throughout 30 tracks, Vancouver-based artist Stephen Moore integrates industrial grit, acute acoustic vulnerability, and ripped emotion into what feels like a sonic diary of unravelling and rebirth. This is not an album, this is an exorcism.
The opener “TREMENS” launches the wayward journey with palpable urgency, composed during an actual case of Delirium Tremens. The album then weaves between the chaotic (“GOOD TIME SLOW JAM”, “A MONOLITH OF ALARMS”) and the tender (“Reckless Fever”, “Song for Bonzai”). Moore’s fearless lyricism tackles trauma, addiction, grief, and existential blurriness while simultaneously bringing the listener further into his world.
The title track "IN ALL MY NIGHTMARES I AM ALONE" crystallizes the emotional nucleus of the record, simultaneously isolated yet defiant, broken yet unbroken. Moore creates a listening experience that is lovingly ugly, deeply eclectic, and defies categorizations while being tethered to truth, with nods to Nine Inch Nails, Velvet Underground, and Tom Waits.
Although the album is lengthy, it never becomes overwhelming. Each piece has its role to play in the arc of pain and catharsis. This is Stephen Moore at his most unvarnished. IN ALL MY NIGHTMARES I AM ALONE is difficult, beautiful, and a vital listen.
