Out Tha Basement Brings St. Louis Sound to Another Level With My Block Vol.6 SSDD Album

St. Louis music group Out Tha Basement sees further proof as to why they should be reckoned with through their latest album, My Block Vol. 6 SSDD. With direction from The R.I.C.O. the exe, consistently demonstrating their best creativity on each piece, the nine-track album captures the authenticity of underground St. Louis musicianship while providing an expansive hip-hop/experimental overlap.

The artists, as a group, in order to coherently reveal a comprehensible sound in a release, all blend grit and artistry on every track. With pounding beats and grizzly lyrical delivery, every track unequivocally paints a picture of various realities from struggle to enjoyment. The productions are composite and chordal, once again retaining a sonic identity.

The backbone of Out Tha Basement is their chemistry and ability to translate their personal narratives into universal reflections. With My Block Vol. 6: SSDD, they made an album that feels very much in place and extends well past local boundaries. It's audacious, unapologetic, and it makes a statement about the group's process in maturing to one of St. Louis’s most consequential collectives.
