Fiona Amaka Shares Hope and Faith with Her New Song “Honesty (Psalm 139)”

Hailing from London, Fiona Amaka continues to prove her adaptability as an artist with her recent single release of "Honesty (Psalm 139)," a contemplative and heartfelt song that serves as her first official Christian song. The single is influenced by folk and alt-country styles and uses spiritual lyricism to evoke both joyful moments of worship and personal reflection.

Fiona Amaka has traditionally focused on many themes, such as betrayal, "No Daylight", to neuro-diversity, "Different", but "Honesty (Psalm 139)" offers an opportunity to step into a new, yet familiar direction. The song reflects on one of the most intimate passages in scripture that emphasizes God can know our hearts more deeply than we can ever know ourselves. Fiona Amaka originally wrote the song years ago with a bluesy melody, but dusted it off for 2023 with more folk elements in the song's style. The song reflects both moments of reverence and joyful responses to the knowledge of God's comfort and clarity.

Produced in London by Andy Zanini (whose famed slide guitar adds warmth and texture) and with vocal production by Eric Sanicola in Los Angeles, the song blends organic instruments with a glossy production approach. The crux of the song is Fiona's vocals, which are as earthy and emotive as they are sincere, delivering lyrics applicable to both the Christian and non-Christian audience. The song has a catchiness that is easy to sing along to and a lovely sunny vibe, which could be used in worship or when reflecting on personal matters.

While the spiritual message is evident, "Honesty (Psalm 139)" is also a fun song that demonstrates Fiona's ability to tell stories. Just as she drew upon her experiences in her prior releases, here she has translated scripture into a lived-out faith expression.

With a busy performance year coming up that includes a Primo Passo Per Sognare Festival on October 4th, Fiona Amaka is not slowing down. "Honesty (Psalm 139)" is more than a single; it is a proclamation of authenticity, hope, and the eternal truth of being seen and loved fully.
