"Summer's Gate" by Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends: A Sonic Journey Without Time.

"Summer's Gate," based in Stockholm from musician Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends, attempts to break every convention associated with how we listen to music by creating a 12-minute slow-burner. "Summer's Gate" is the final track of the double album 17 Birds at the Summer's Gate. This gargantuan track & the rest of the songs on the double album dance with the elegance of Swedish folk songs, alongside the theatrical attitude of 70s prog-rock. It is dedicated to heart & career and carried with a musical soul.

You immediately hear gossamer traces of a textural atmosphere like Pink Floyd, a poetics, and slight orchestration within organically conjured acoustic threads. Sometimes songs have sections that when put together, create a certain kind of narrative, and with "Summer's gate", these sections locate themselves in a kind of dramatic arc, where each section builds towards a particular climactic coda that recalls blues music, that portrays a sublime guitar solo from Daniel Lagerlöf (formerly a member of Redmoon).

Though written in 2020, this song resonates eerily differently in this dystopian hellscape of 2025. The lyricism reflects a constellation of heads toward new eras of fragility and quiet resistance.

The most appealing thing about "Summer's Gate" is its sense of patience. It is not hurried; it is patient. It is a reflective, immersive experience which is designed for committed listening, preferably with headphones, and committed time. This is not a song; it is an opportunity for meditation on uncertainty, memory, and the long shadows of summer. For lovers of sweeping narratives told through sound, this experience signals an opportunity to reflect on the long shadows at summer’s end.
