Kyle Waves Delivers a Meaningful Message with Heartfelt Dance-Pop in His EP Signals

Pop artist Kyle Waves, based in New York, makes a memorable return with Signals, a six-track EP that effectively sums up the ups and downs of modern love. Breeding heady pop with beats more than fit for the dancefloor, Signals shines a spotlight on the messy mix of feelings that arise from modern love and attraction, including sparks of infatuation, anxiety, jealousy, and eventually heartbreak, through vibrant lyrics and dynamic production.

The first two tracks, "I Feel Too Much For You" and "Thinking Bout It," have clear production and engrossing hooks that intricately weave an initial insight into the chaos, excitement, and complications one faces with new relationships. Waves, musically, takes full advantage of both his vulnerabilities and his confidence, reflecting the push-pull of initial dynamics, which is a common experience.

The sultry interpolative track "Make It Right" plays with more of a darker tone, yet steers a physical intimacy. "Broken Soul" illustrates the pain of the aftermath of heartbreak, as you collectively feel the heaviness while grappling with harrowing emotions over a pounding beat and a determined mood. The beautifully recorded "In My Heart" poetically screams, Send me a clear message; I need clarity as I grapple with mixed messages; it's ultimately the emotional beating heart of this EP.

With a mix and master by Kai Tsao, Signals sounds both slick and sincere. Kyle Waves has created more than just a dance-pop EP; it is a somewhat vulnerable diary of love’s signals, both easy to read and static-filled. Emotionally connecting and sonically innovative, Signals firmly positions Kyle as an up-and-coming artist in the queer pop landscape.
