Nothing Concrete: An Album “The Imperfectionist”: A Bold Affirmation of Humanity’s Imperfections

With The Imperfectionist, Nothing Concrete delivers its biggest and boldest album yet. The Paris-based global fusion band taps into sentiments of migration, identity, and the beauty in human imperfection, across 10 tracks. The title The Imperfectionist is more than just poetic; it also functions as a mission statement: in this body of work, imperfection is a gift.

Founded by Fergus McKay and Gaia Miato, the band has created a richly textured sound that incorporates afrobeat, tango, blues, and folk into an angelic soundscape that feels both worldly and personal. The band created its fourth studio project in a solar-powered studio in Ariège, France. The organic warmth of The Imperfectionist reflects its physical creation and commitment to sustainability. The lead single "The Boats" sets the provocative tone for the project, and celebrates hope, persistence, and the global movement of people through lilting acoustic guitar, grounding percussion, and transcendent brass instrumentation.

Each track feels like a story being told around a fire to neighbors, told with loved ones in cultures. The band brought in producer Keith Witty from New York, and while his artistry yields a more polished product, there is still authenticity established in production and sound. The Imperfectionist achieves with a balance of contemporary and global roots.

Nothing Concrete's upcoming Glastonbury 2025 performance will surely solidify The Imperfectionist as their breakout moment. This album is not simply music; it is a caring, cross-cultural embrace of what it means to be human.
