"Masquerade" by Vie Jester: A Wildly Inventive Hard Rock Re-imagining Cover EP

Hailing from San Gabriel, California, Vie Jester, the hard-rocking power trio, has pulled a bold move with their first-ever cover EP, Masquerade. If you aren't familiar with this band, they wear their heavy-yet-melodic approach to modern rock on their sleeves, and they are throwing caution to the wind, covering tracks by genre legends like Godsmack, A Perfect Circle, and Incubus along with a plot twist with cinematic elements, covering Hans Zimmer's Dune soundtrack.

Vie Jester's four-song EP presents their distinctive artistry with every cover, striking just the right balance of honoring the original bands while also embarking on a new hard-rocking journey. Their rendition of Godsmack feels more aggressive, and has a sharper, complex rhythm, and their A Perfect Circle cover goes for an atmospheric darker vibe.

The Incubus cover is groovy with the best. But perhaps the biggest surprise of all is the daring and spine-tingling reimagination of Zimmer's Dune theme, showing that VIE Jester is not afraid to step outside the box of traditional rock.

Masquerade is a creative success that pays homage to and pushes against the very source. It is evidence of Vie Jester's prowess as a technician and developing musical vision. Vie Jester is soon to enter their first full LP next year, and Masquerade is a strong reminder that Vie Jester not only covers songs, but they rework them.
